Jester 'Stylus' Experience Quote
I was asked by Nurse Karen (of 'Soca Therapy' fame) for a quote on my 2009 Stylus DJ Award experience and here's what I had to say:
"It was honor to be a 5x nominee for the 2009 Stylus DJ Awards, but actually winning really surprised me. The competition was very serious in all the categories I was nominated in (College Radio, Club DJ, Toronto DJ, Myspace DJ Page, Soca DJ Of The Year). I was shocked to win 'College Radio Show Of The Year' 2 years in a row (for the 'Worldwide Wake Up Show' CIUT 89.5fm Thursdays 5:30-8am http://ciut.fm). I have to thank all those who have supported 'Worldwide' over the years. My goal with 'Worldwide' is to never make it sound cheap or unprofessional. I believe quality is important with whatever you do. Now to win 'Soca DJ Of The Year' was the real shocker. Definitely a competitive category (with Bandit, Soca Sweetness, MArXman, among others nominated in this category with me). I love calypso & soca a lot. I do so many things outside of soca music, but I always make sure I do at least 2 soca mixtapes a year and try my best to connect with the artists. I truly believe it is important to expose soca to the masses and break music. I believe that in any genre of music, but more so for soca. When I was a member of the KOS Family I was able to build with all of the artists that I met over the years and now as a member of the X-Caliber Entourage I see how hard it is for a soca artist to get his/her music heard since working with Dawg (Mr. Slaughter). My 2009 Stylus experience will defnitely be something to remember. Even if I don't win an award I truly believe having your name in a category with some of the countries best means alot. From DJ Wristpect, P-Plus, Ill Kids to Bandit, Soca Sweetness, & JUK, I am in good company and it shows my versatility even more."

TORONTO (April 13, 2009) - The New FLOW 93.5 is proud to be the home of 15 nominations for the 2009 Stylus DJ Awards. FLOW 93.5's DJs, Jason Chambers, P-Plus, Boogeymen, Christopher Michaels, Dr Jay, Spex, Jester and James Redi, have been nominated in numerous categories for this years awards.
"I feel like a proud Papa. The raw DJ talent at The New FLOW 93.5 is overwhelming and we're extremely thankful to be acknowledged by our peers," says Wayne Williams New FLOW 93.5 Program Director.
FLOW 93.5's DJ's Jester and P-Plus lead the nomination list.
Jester is nominated for five categories including College Radio Show, Toronto DJ, Soca DJ, Club DJ and MySpace DJ Page. P-Plus has three nods for Radio Mixshow DJ, Toronto DJ, and Club DJ.
The 2009 Stylus DJ Awards will take place on Monday June 1, 2009 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre

The Stylus Group – Canadian based organization created to support, develop, recognize and award the Canadian DJ Industry has announced their nominee listing for the 2009 Stylus DJ Awards, presented by Marc Ecko Watches - www.marceckotime.ca
The Stylus DJ Awards are a unique facet to the DJ and Urban culture in Canada. As the only institution recognizing the breadth of DJ talent in Canada; Stylus are able to bring a forum that allows DJs and Canadian Artists to display and perform their talent to the Canadian Music industry and public on a heightened scale. The Stylus events throughout SpinFest and the Stylus DJ Awards harbour performances, a music conference, concerts and local events, all allowing Canadian Artists to flourish and be recognized.
A record setting 10, 018 DJ fans from across Canada and around the globe, cast their votes online at www.stylusgroup.ca to nominate their favourite DJs. A board of directors comprised of industry tastemakers will determine the 2009 winners.
The 2009 Stylus DJ Awards will honour the achievements and progress made by Canadian DJs in their respective categories.
DJs gathering multiple nominations this year are; Wristpect (Toronto), Jester (Toronto) with five nominations each, P Plus (Toronto) with three nominations and Payce (Montreal), D@x (Montreal), DJ Pump (Calgary), Kwite Sane (Montreal), DJ
Law (Toronto), Baba Kahn (Toronto), Ill Kidz (Toronto), J-Swing (Vancouver), Miss M (Winnipeg) and Spex (Toronto), all with two nominations each. Now in its fourth year – the Stylus Group brings stellar competition forward with the introduction of three new Categories; West Coast DJ of the Year, Central DJ of the Year and East Coast DJ of the Year. These three categories allow for DJs from all across Canada to be included in this year’s award show; giving DJs in every market a platform to voice their artistry. Along with these new categories, 18 other awards will be handed out including the top award of the evening; Club DJ of the Year, presented by Marc Ecko Watches.
The Stylus Group will also be honouring and recognizing the careers of Hall of Fame inductees; DJ Earl Da Pearl (Vancouver) and Maceo Sound (Toronto). The Stylus Group would like to thank the thousands of fans who voted for their favourite DJs. It’s great to see a mixture of established and up and coming DJs represented in this year’s categories.’

This has been a work week (not like every week isn't one)! So I gave u "Encore Vol.5: Breaking Hits" yesterday (scroll down) and I am excited to present my 2009 Groovy Soca mixtape "The Jester Experience". I got inspired to do it for a party I am doing for my boy Ian Andre Espinet called 'GroovEssentials' which a groovy soca party @IslandMix in PIckering (1050 Brock Rd)!
